NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A Wilmington developer who hoped to build more than 200 apartments in New Hanover County was denied his request Wednesday night.
Blue Ridge Land Company wanted to build the apartments behind the Prospect Cemetery off Military Cutoff Road, but city staffers said the roads and driveways in the area aren't wide enough to bring in a new apartment building.
"On this one that is one of the reasons that staff is recommending for the subdivision review and also recommending denial for the zoning and annexation," said Jamison Fair with the Wilmington Planning Department. The developer can redesign his plan and bring it back to the Wilmington Subdivision Review Board for approval.
