CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - Beach towns generally make most of their sales from summer tourists, and this holiday weekend the economy isn't getting in the way of business.
Retailers at Carolina Beach say business has doubled over the past few days, thanks to the boardwalk's recent makeover.
"It looks like a great year for Carolina Beach and the beach in general because we've seen so much improvement here and the board walk," said Daniel Ray Norris, a Carolina Beach historian. "[There's] a lot of new stuff like the rides, the new ice cream place, the "Ice Factory", Britt's donuts of course is here as always - the games are open, the board walk hasn't looked this good in 25 years."
Business is expected to be up across all of New Hanover County this 4th of July weekend.
