WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Last week one of the area's oldest banks was shut down by federal regulators. Now, Lumina Mortgage is closing because Cooperative Bank shut down.
First Bank has taken over Cooperative Bank and its subsidiaries.
A representative with First Bank said they're in the process of rolling Lumina Mortgage into the company's current mortgage operations, a group called Mortgage First.
First Bank has let go of some current Lumina Mortgage employees, although they would not say how many.
Company reps said people who were getting mortgages with Lumina do not have to worry, their rates will be honored.
