WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A professional crime scene investigator from Raleigh joined a group of middle school students taking part in CFCC's science camp Friday.
Agent Nathan Smoots with the Wake County City-County-Bureau of Identification talked to the students about crime scene investigations.
He showed students some of the special equipment and techniques used to collect DNA, blood samples, finger prints, and how it's used to give law enforcement officials vital clues to solve crimes.
"I think ever since CSI cam out, there's been a big influx of interest in the crime scene work," said Smoots. "So, it's kind of interesting to come out and see everyone's perspective on it, and the questions that come from the actual show and so forth."
Smoots said he enjoyed taking time off to teach children about his line of work.
