BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A couple in Oak Island are facing arson charges after a portion of their home caught fire.

According to Brunswick County Sheriff's Detective Sergeant Steven Mason, 38-year-old Dewey Propst and his wife Amanda deposited an insurance check into an account, but failed to have a mortgage company endorse the check.

The couple was arrested and charged with felony fraud and arson.

Mason said fraud is a crime that's continuing to grow in Brunswick County.
