WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A convicted sex offender from Colorado who was arrested earlier this month on unrelated charges does not have to register as a sex offender in North Carolina.

Police say 41-year-old Stacey Alan Glenn moved to the area in 2006 from Colorado, where he was listed as a sex offender with a lengthy record.

Officials say Glenn was charged with menenacing in Colorado, which is not considered a reportable offense in North Carolina.

Additionally, according to North Carolina's sex offender registration law, all registered sex offenders who move in-state after December 2006 must also register in North Carolina.  Glenn moved before the allotted date, so he did not have to notify authorities of his move.

Glenn was arrested and charged with indecent exposure and kidnapping for an incident that occurred May 22.
