BURGAW, NC (WECT) - Organizers of the Blueberry Festival saw a record turnout this year in spite of near record heat.   That was good news for blueberry farmers who told WECT news they are not feeling the effects of the economy.

"We've sold a lot of stuff here today," said Lorraine Moore. "Its been good for business for us, but good for the blueberry industry as a whole."

Moore said blueberries have been hailed as a super food because they lower cholesterol, heart disease, and even improve moods.

"The health aspect of blueberries has promoted them, people buy them and freeze them and use them all year."

WECT is a proud sponsor of the Blueberry Festival.
