WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - One Wilmington resident is planning to run for mayor because he's not happy with the way the city is spending taxpayer dollars.
Paul Knight spoke to a group of people gathered on the steps of City Hall Tuesday evening. He is the vice president and general manager of Sea-Comm Media, a company that owns four radio stations in the area.
Knight said he wants to better control government spending and stop forced annexation.
"I'm just not happy with the direction they're taking the city," said Knight. "I feel like a more conservative approach to the way the city's run need to happen now, especially with the current economic conditions."
The filing period for mayoral candidates begins July 6.
