61 marijuana plants seized in Holden Beach

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has arrested several people on drug related charges.

Mark Cameron Prestwood of Holden Beach is on a $15,000.00 secured bond after authorities  investigated Hazelnut Drive, where they discovered and seized 61 marijuana plants.

The plants were found growing in a wooded area off the main road. The investigation lead to Cameron's residence on Bluefish Street where agents found an additional:

  • 3 ounces of marijuana
  • grow material
  • 7 additional marijuana plants
  • 72 plant seed bed

The estimated street value of the marijuana plants is well over $200,000. 33-year-old Prestwood was arrested with the following charges:

  • PWIMSD Marijuana
  • Manufacture Marijuana
  • Maintaining a Dwelling to keep a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

The Drug Enforcement Unit also investigated drug-related complaints on Homes Drive in Supply earlier this month.

Agents seized 27 marijuana plants and processed marijuana. They sited 45-year-old Oscar Gore Sr. with misdemeanor possession and possession of drug paraphernalia at the residence.

The estimated street value of the marijuana plants is over $81,000.00, and more arrests are expected to be made.
