SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) - "No Port Southport" is a citizen's group formed to fight the NC Ports Authority's plan to build an international terminal in the Southport area.

They are against the idea saying it could hurt the environment.  They held a contest on Monday to figure out what to do with the 600-acre property if the port is not built there.

Group members announced the winning idea Thursday during their public meeting - an energy park.

The energy park will be divided into individual displays of alternative energy sources such as windmills and solar panels, while creating more jobs in the area.

They are planning to present the winning idea to Governor Bev Perdue.
