WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A bankruptcy judge has been hearing testimony from Chrysler dealers facing the loss of their businesses, and one Wilmington dealership is being affected.
D&E Dodge on Market Street is preparing to shift all of its business to used cars and cut about ten jobs. So far, two jobs have already been eliminated.
This is just one of hundreds of dealerships Chrysler plans to close across the country by June 9, if their contracts are not extended.
The dealership is trying to sell about 113 new Dodge cars, and the remaining inventory will be sold to a dealership in South Carolina.
D&E plans to stay in business independently focusing on used car sales.
Craven said they are looking for a new franchise and may be back in the new car sales business soon.
