NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Governor Bev Perdue visited Wrightsboro Elementary Friday as the school celebrated its 100th anniversary.
The governor met New Hanover County School board members, county commissioners, and spoke to nearly every student.
Several students put on a performance to celebrate the school's anniversary. Having the governor in the audience made it special.
"A lot of people don't visit this school a lot, and it's really big for someone to come to this school," said fifth grader Ronald Dombroski. "It's really easy to remember when you meet someone that big."
The neighboring Wrightsboro Baptist Church will also be celebrating its 100th anniversary this fall.
