WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - I'd like to draw your attention to something special taking place this weekend.
Lower Cape Fear Hospice will hold a grand opening celebration for The Phillips LifeCare & Counseling Center, and their lovely new Heritage Garden.
These facilities will serve people with life-limiting illnesses, but they are also helping loved ones, including young children who are facing the reality of growing up without one of their parents.
Dealing with death is never easy, but almost any family who has availed themselves of hospice services will tell you just how helpful they can be.
We're blessed to have an outstanding hospice organization in our area, and with this new addition - they'll be able to do even better.
They even had the foresight to think "green" with this project and hopefully they'll receive certification for what may be the first new construction LEED facility in North Carolina, east of Interstate 95.
Now I know this won't make losing a loved one a joyful experience, but the benefits of having support, expertise and modern facilities during this very difficult time cannot be measured.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
