PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Questions have been raised surrounding one Pender County Commissioner as to whether he's fit to continue serving on the board.
Democrat Norwood Blanchard and Republican George Brown have a history of not getting along. Both have a had a lot of public arguments and disagreements, and a few months ago Blanchard requested they sit apart at meetings.
Monday night Blanchard took his request further and asked his fellow commissioners to evaluate and vote whether Brown was fit to continue serving on the board.
Commissioners decided not to vote on Brown's performance as a commissioners, because both men agreed to let their disagreements go.
"It's a very timing issue and I'm ready for us to move forward," said chairman Jimmy Tate. "We have so many good things happening in Pender County, and I believe it's easy for people to get focus on the negativity of the board."
Tate said he's planning to meet with both men in an effort to iron out any issues they have.
