WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Students with the UNCW garden committee woke up early Wednesday to get their hands dirty.

The students wrote to the Cape Fear Garden Club and were given $600 grant to makeover a garden on campus.

The garden, located behind the Fisher Center, displays the names of UNCW students from the class of 2001 who contributed to the class gift.

"It's a good feeling to know people who lost loved ones came come out here and hopefully have a nice place to be," said Greg Files.

The students planted green and gold Pierres and white and gold Native Azaleas.  Landscapers at the university will maintain the garden.
