WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Another alligator was spotted in Wilmington - this one in a residential area.

Residents of a private neighborhood say they saw the gator eat a cat and are concerned that the alligator could attack their children.

"He was hissing and warning people to stay away - he was trying to get away," said resident Shana Bara.  "Either way if he felt threatened one bite would be all it would take to remove one of your body parts. Pretty scary."

Even though there are signs posted around the lakes to warn residents, some believe the alligators may need to be removed.

Last week two other alligators were spotted in Wilmington - one on River Road and the other in the Forest Hills area.

According to wildlife workers, alligators typically won't bother people unless you bother them.
