WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An accident involving a Bladen County emergency vehicle has parts of Wooster Street in Wilmington shut down.
The accident occurred at the intersection of 14th and Wooster Streets around 11:30 Tuesday morning.
There was a patient in the EMS vehicle, but officials say paramedics were picking up the patient from a doctor's appointment they had in Wilmington. The ambulance was heading back to Elizabethtown when the crash happened.
Authorities say the driver of a red Hyundai ran a stop sign and hit the ambulance. The driver has been arrested for driving with a suspended license and will face other charges as well.
Two people riding in the Hyundai were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
The patient in the EMS vehicle was also taken to the hospital as a safety precaution.
