WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Members of Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington broke ground on an expansion project Sunday.
The project will include a welcome center, offices, a kitchen, and a large activities center that will have gym facilities. The building will be located in the church parking lot near 4th Street.
It will cost around $3,000,000 and congregation members say it'll be worth every penny.
"We will use it as an outreach thing," said Brian Little of Grace United Methodist Church. "We have a lot of people in this area who depend on church and we try to reach out to people and we're hoping to reach out to the growing downtown community."
Construction work on the new building is supposed to begin Monday. Church members say it will take about 10 months before it's completed.
