NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A bill that would hold up a controversial cement plant planned for New Hanover County was pulled from the state senate calendar Thursday, without a vote.

The bill was introduced by State Senator Julia Boseman and would delay permits for all cement plants in the state, including the facility Titan America wants to build in Castle Hayne.

Senator Boseman told WECT the bill is not dead and she will continue efforts to delay the project.

A Titan spokesman said in a statement that they look forward to moving ahead, to build one of the most environmentally friendly plants in the world.
