WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A national beverage packaging corporation announced Wednesday that it will close its Wilmington plant.
MeadWestvaco Corporation said the closure is part of the company's strategic cost management program to optimize its key global markets.
The company provides packaging solutions to many brands in healthcare, personal and beauty care, food, beverage, media and entertainment, and garden industries.
The company's capacity to supply beverages to the market will not be affected. Equipment and production from the Wilmington facility will relocate to other packaging plants.
The closure is expected to take place in August 2009 and will impact about 105 hourly and salaried employees.
