WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Hundreds of people gathered at the Riverside Hilton in downtown Wilmington Tuesday morning for the 2009 Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity's Golden Hammer Breakfast.
At the breakfast the Habitat for Humanity took the opportunity to thank a number of organizations and churches who pledged their support over the past year.
In 2008 the housing ministry dedicated its 100th home in the Wilmington area and was able to build 14 houses, which is the most they have constructed in one year.
In addition they finished 3 homes in Pender County and 3 in Brunswick County.
At the breakfast, the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity asked the community for their continued support and already has more than $70,000 in pledges for the upcoming year.
