COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The man who was driving a vehicle that killed a groom on his wedding day is out of the hospital and in jail.

More than three weeks after the deadly wreck, 43-year-old John Daniel Kelly made his first court appearance in Columbus County.  His case has been continued.

Kelly faces a DWI charge stemming from the crash.  Last week a grand jury indicted Kelly on second degree murder charges.

In April, 23-year-old Brandon Tedder, his best man 19-year-old Brandon Mintz, and his brother 13-year-old Daniel Sykes were all killed when authorities say a convertible veered into their lane on Highway 214 and hit their Honda head-on.

They were all pronounced dead on the scene, and Sykes was ejected from the car.
