WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - This Saturday, 8 local pastors got together to build a house.  The pastors say it's part of building relationships and crossing race barriers.

"It doesn't have to be as big as building house," said Robert Campbell the pastor of New Beginnings Christian Church. "But to come together and do things for the community regardless of race and ethnicity."

Someone donated money for the habitat for humanity house, the only stipulation is the churches have to come together to build it.  Mike Queen, the Pastor of First Baptist Church knew they couldn't pass up the offer.

"It is one of the fine ministries," said Queen. "Because, every dollar you give to habitat keeps on going. After a house is built and they pay their mortgage it goes back into another house so it changes lives."

"It feels wonderful," said Chavis who owns the house. "It gives me the feeling that my house will be extra blessed."

Members of the 8 churches will soon have a joint bible study and even joint church services.
