Child abuse charges added to home invasion suspect

New Hanover County, NC (WECT) - A man is now facing child abuse charges after bringing his children along during a home invasion in Castle Hayne Friday.

28-year-old Gregory McMahon is charged with felony breaking and entering and felony possession of burglary tools after deputies and a k9 unit responded to the scene.

According to the sheriff's office McMahon brought his 7-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son with him when he broke into a home and struggled with the residents at 4815 Castle Hayne Road early Friday evening.

No one was injured during the altercation.  McMahon remains in custody at the New Hanover County detention facility under a $100,000 secured bond.
