WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - If you've had to fill up your vehicle lately, you probably noticed that gas prices have risen about 20 cents a gallon.
Gas costs 12 cents more per a gallon than last month, but it's nearly $1.48 a gallon cheaper than a year ago.
Local owners say they think it has to do with the upcoming summer traveling season, in addition to analysts speculating what oil prices are going to do.
Wilmington residents say they never know what to expect when they get to the pump.
"I think that most people knew they would and I think we're also frightened about what's ahead of us," said Mary Will Burton. "Everybody my age is laughing and saying they have to go back to work to pay for our gas and everything else."
