BRUNSWICK COUTNY, NC (WECT) - Counselors will be on hand at West Brunswick High School to help students cope with the loss of one of their classmates.

Early Friday morning, one student died and four others were injured in a car accident in Brunswick County.

According to Highway Patrol, passenger 18-year-old Jacob Moseley died in a crash on Royal Oak Road off Hwy 17.  17-year-old Caleb Diaz, who was also a passenger, is in critical condition.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle ran off the road at a high speed, overcorrected, then ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree.  No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Officials do not believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
