BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A church in Winnabow is vowing to hold service this Sunday despite a fire in the building Thursday.
Members say lightning struck the steeple of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 17 in Winnabow.
A fire sparked in the attic, but did not cause major damage to the inside of the church, and no one was there at the time.
The church has insurance and members plan to make repairs as soon as possible.
"I know God allows everything, but we are going to rebuild," said Pastor Harris Wallace. "We are going to move forward and we are going to have church on Sunday."
The church is the second building this week to be struck by lightning in Brunswick County.
