CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - Carolina Beach has received $3.3 million from the President's stimulus package.
Town officials say they're going to use the money to put in retention ponds for the Wilmington beach project and to make improvements to a sewer main along Dow Road to Lake Park.
"It's great. I think it really relieves a lot of the burden on taxpayers and the customers," said Carolina Beach Town Manager Tim Owens. "We were just fortunate enough to have those projects in line and to get approved, and we're very fortunate to get selected as one of the folks that did get approved for funding."
Owens said they must start repairs at the beginning of the summer since they're using federal money for the projects.
