WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Some golfers hit the green Monday to raise some green for cancer research.
WECT's Frances Weller was at the event hosted by UNCW's Head Basketball Coach Benny Moss at the Porter's Neck Country Club.
Weller teed off with several others in the first annual Teeing off for Cancer Golf Classic Tournament.
All entry fees will help the American Cancer Society in its fight to find a cure for cancer.
"I believe that whatever you could do, that's the goal, and if you can do a dollar, that's a dollar more than we had yesterday," said chairperson Yona Bar-Zeev. "For our purposes, we are very proud of the $400,000 we did. I look at it the other way also. Between last year and this year, we raised over a million dollars."
The golf tournament was in conjunction with the Relay for Life with took place over the weekend.
