WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Rotary Club is asking for your help to bring education and knowledge to an area that's known for a large part of WWII history.
Wilbur Jones, a member of the club is asking the public for new and used WWII books and movies. The material will be sent to the Republic of Kiribati, where it will be distributed to a local convent library by the U.S. Navy. Jones, traveled there recently and says he was amazed with how little they have about the history of WWII.
There are three drop off locations, including the Wilmington Athletic Club, the Randall library at UNCW and the Wilmington U.S.O. building.
"The Navy is all excited about it, due to the uniqueness of what we are doing." said Jones. "The Navy tells us that normally when items go out like this, they are toys for kids or baby wipes or personal comfort type items."
The final drop off date will be May 15th. Cash contributions are also being accepted.
