CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - Many people headed to Carolina Beach Sunday to enjoy a day at the beach. But, some forgot sunscreen, a beach essential and have already begun to pay for it with sunburns.
Skin care expert Lindsey Mason said people come into spas like "I Am Salon and Day Spa" in Monkey Junction trying to reverse the effects of sun damage. But, the best way to avoid wrinkles and sun spots is the prevent them.
"You can still get a tan," said Mason. "But, be healthy about it and still protect your skin."
Mason suggests putting on at least an spf 15 every day, even if you are just riding in your car. And she said lotion should be reapplied every couple of hours to reduce your risk of sunburn and even skin cancer.
