NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A brush fire in New Hanover County scorched several acres near Monkey Junction Saturday.
The fire began in a wooden area near Navajo Trail, and threatened several homes nearby.
The fire was contained within a few hours and nobody was forced to evacuate. But, some residents were very concerned because of the wildfires in Myrtle Beach.
"You don't think it would happen," said Greg Ward a resident. "But, when it does, you do get worried, because you realize everyone lives here and it could burn down their house and hurt somebody."
Fire officials believe the blaze was caused by a left over camp fire.
