WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Local celebrities and professionals will be taking the stage to perform their favorite Vegas act Saturday night for a fundraising event to benefit the Carousel Center.
The "Making Legends Local -- Vegas and More" show will take place on the main stage at Thalian Hall, and will feature acts including the "Spice Girls," "Blue Man Group," and "Elvis."
WECT's anchor Frances Weller will perform among others in their version of the Moulin Rouge, and the Wilmington Hammerheads Dance Team will give you a taste of what they have in store for the 2009 season.
A red carpet reception will take place prior to the show in the upstairs ballroom and includes food, wine, beer, soda and a great ticket to the show. The reception will take place Saturday evening from 6 - 7:45. Tickets can be purchased through The Carousel Center, call (910) 254-9898 and ask for April.
General admission tickets to just the show, which begins at 8 PM, are available through the Thalian Hall Box Office, (910) 364-3664.
The Carousel Center is a non-profit organization committed to assisting victims of child abuse, providing critical care services to children from 15 counties throughout southeastern North Carolina.
Referrals are made through law enforcement, social services and physicians.
85 percent of the children they see are 11 years old or younger, with the most common age in 2008 being only 6 years old. Of those children whom we see, approximately 85 percent have suffered from sexual abuse.
All proceeds from "Making Legends Local -- Vegas and More" will go towards helping the victims.
