BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - People in Brunswick County are doing their part to help those who have lost everything in the Horry County fires.

Workers at the Chamber of Commerce have been collecting donations to distribute to the fire victims.

So far they say they've received a lot of clothing from local residents and businesses, but they will take anything such as canned goods and household appliances.

The Chamber of Commerce has several loads of donations they plan to give to fire victims throughout the weekend.

Also, Barefoot Landing and the American Red Cross have joined efforts to create collection spots for their Disaster Relief Fund to help those affected by the wildfire in Myrtle Beach.

In addition to accepting financial donations at the Barefoot Landing management office and welcome center, there are "piggy" banks at each of the 12 restaurants throughout the property.

Donations of bottled water or Gatorade to assist fire victims and firefighters will only be collected at the Barefoot Landing management office and welcome center.

Anyone who would like to contribute should make their check payable to "American Red Cross," with "Barefoot Resort Wildfire" in the memo section.  Personal and business checks will be accepted in addition to cash.

You can also help people affected by disasters like the recent wildfires in North Myrtle Beach by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund via their secure website at

The American Red Cross is unable to accept material items like clothing or furniture at this time.
