Young man to face additional charges in shooting

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Additional charges have been filed in a shooting that occurred last month.

March 10, one of two males was shot with a .22 Caliber handgun in the left side of his neck at a home on Vallie Drive.  Family members say two young men may have been taking turns pulling the trigger of the gun when the incident happened.

16-year-old William Chandler McHenry was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm the day the shooting took place.

Now, detectives have secured warrants for additional charges to include: assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and assault by pointing a gun.

Detectives have not been able to locate McHenry since the time of the incident.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call detectives at (910) 798-4260.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
