Virginia's unemployment rate hit 7% in February. Nearly 300,000 workers were without jobs. In the Richmond area the unemployed have a tremendous resource they can turn to for help.
Goodwill Industries operates five Community Employment Centers throughout Central Virginia. These Centers offer the unemployed worker valuable assistance. They can get career counseling; personal skills assessment and they can attend workshops and job fairs.
Local businesses can also utilize the Employment Centers. They can find qualified workers and take advantage of other support resources offered by Goodwill. All of these services are staffed by trained personnel. And most services are available to the public free of charge.
For nearly 80 years Goodwill has been helping people help themselves through the power of work. Like all non-profits these days they can use our support both through donations and volunteer time.
