WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Volunteers with the American Red Cross will feed 12,000 troops and their family members at a pre-deployment reception Tuesday.
The secretary of the Army, Army Chief of Staff, Congressmen, the NC Governor, and two White House Representative are expected to be in attendance of the "Hail and Farewell to Iraq" reception in Fayetteville.
Red Cross chapters across NC and surrounding states are providing equipment to support the chapter in Fayetteville.
The Cape Fear Chapter is sending one staff member and 14 local disaster volunteers to assist with the large feeding operation.
The American Red Cross provides military members emergency communications services to link them with their families back home.
