WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A Wilmington man died after crashing into a home on Tennyson Drive off North College Road.

Investigators say 49-year-old William Polley was driving a minivan when he lost control of the vehicle going around a curve, hit a street sign, and then crashed into the side of a house.

Polley died from his injuries upon impact.

The homeowner was not surprised it happened; she said people drive too quickly through her neighborhood all the time.

"All the sudden we just heard a big explosion sound, and the house literally moved. You could see it move, and Tim asked me, 'What was that?' I said, 'Someone just hit our house.' I knew what it was automatically. It was unreal, the noise. It was just so loud," said Brandy Crawford.
