CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - There could be changes coming to the boardwalk at Carolina Beach.

The town council has scheduled a public hearing on one group's request to bring amusement rides to that area.

The proposal includes a ferris wheel, funhouse, and arcade games.

The idea already passed the planning and zoning board and has some leaders excited about the possibility.

"It is consistent with the theme we're trying to do, which is to bring the family aspect of the Boardwalk back, to get more families down here, to make it a more family-friendly venue, so the amusements, generally speaking, are consistent with that," said Carolina Beach council member Dan Wilcox.

If the amusement park is approved, the rides would sit on four empty lots near the boardwalk.
