BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Free dump week will begin at the landfill in Brunswick County Monday.

Beginning Monday, Brunswick County residents will have the opportunity to bring trash to the county landfill in Bolivia for free.

All items, except for household trash and land clearing debris will be accepted.

The free drop off starts April 13th and ends April 18th.  The county landfill is located at 170 Landfill Road near Highway 17.

This is for residents only, fees for private contractors still apply.  Workers at the landfill say it's a great opportunity to help spruce up the community.

"We have had several people who have a lot of debris scattered throughout their yard and we're just trying to make arrangements for them to get it to the landfill so they can clean up their yard and make the county look like a better looking place," said solid waste officer John Potter.

Hazardous materials like batteries can not be brought to the landfill, there will be a separate collection for those types of items Saturday, April 18 at Shallotte Middle School from 9am-2pm.
