LELAND, NC (WECT) - Saturday members of several churches in Leland spent the day providing Easter dinner to those who otherwise couldn't have afforded it.
"So many people spend money on Easter they none for dinner," said Rita Rich of Victory Freewill Baptist Church. "And they can't afford hams and stuff because of the economy."
Rich picked up 22 dinners for people in her community who are dealing with financial hardships.
"Some people have lost their jobs, down sized their jobs" said Rich. "Cut their finances off. Close to six hundred dinners were handed out Saturday."
Nearly 70 people from the Faith Building Missions and 7 church organizations volunteered their time to pass out the dinners.
