Easter weekend brings tourists to Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - The Easter holiday can be one of the busiest weekends for the hotels and motels in Kure and Carolina Beaches, and this year is no exception.

As of Friday, many motels were booked to capacity and others could be out of room by Saturday.

Hotel workers said most holiday travelers come from other parts of North Carolina, and they tend to wait until the last minute to book their rooms to make sure the weather cooperates.

According to AAA Carolinas, gas prices aren't likely to increase dramatically for the Easter holiday weekend.

April typically signals increased gasoline prices as refineries do their heaviest maintenance of the year, reducing supply, and motorists begin driving more, increasing demand.

AAA says anyone who travels this holiday will find lane closures in North Carolina on I-85 between mile markers 206 and 214 in Vance County and at exit 113 in Guilford County.
