Get up and walk!

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Taking just 10 minutes a day to walk will help you live longer, according to the American Heart Association.

Wednesday, the AHA launched their National Start Walking campaign. They say walking for only 30 minutes a day can prevent high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, and cholesterol.

The AHA is encouraging workers who usually sit in front of a computer all day to pledge they'll put a little more physical activity in the workplace.

They partnered with the American Council on Exercise to design these walking plans to get people moving at every level, with a plan for beginner, intermediate and advanced walkers.
