WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - In celebration, Tar Heel fans scooped up NCAA Championship paraphernalia at local stores - turning Carolina blue into Carolina green.
Employees at Dick's Sporting Goods in Wilmington were working hard long before the doors opened to customers.
"They said that if North Carolina wins I have to come to work at 5:00 - that the trucks would probably be here," said manager Linda Omeara.
Just hours after the final buzzer, customers poured into stores looking to buy their piece of the big win.
Shirts, hats, and pennants flew off the shelves just as quickly as they were being stocked.
"We don't even have a chance to get them on the hanger," said Omeara.
11-year-old Bryant O'Neal said he has been a fan his whole life and hopes to trade in his t-shirt for a jersey someday.
Many thought a long line at the check-out counter was a small price to pay to be some of the first to take home their Tar Heel pride.
Employees at Dick's Sporting Goods say they aren't worried about going out of stock, because trucks have been coming in all day.
