WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A car crashed into a downtown Wilmington building Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, 34-year-old Shavonne Wilson was headed east on Castle Street when she hit a truck parked on the right side of the street.  That's when she slammed into the Southeast Action Building on the corner of 4th and Castle Streets.

No one was in the building at the time of the accident, but there were clients inside the neighboring beauty salon, Simply Gorgeous.

The owner of the salon said it seemed like everything happened in slow motion.

"It scared the mess out of me," said Vivian Royal.  "Like I said, I pushed my customer out of the chair, I said my daughters apartment connects onto the back so I said we're running there. I grabbed him and he jumped back once the thing hit. He went out with the cape on, clips in his hair and everything so he's gone so that's my lost customer."

Police say Wilson was taken to Cape Fear Hospital for minor injuries.  Charges are pending.
