WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Family members of a murder victim are making the public aware that they want whose responsible to be caught.
In January, 20-year-old Corey Vann was shot and killed. His body was found on the side of River Road. Saturday, Vann's family held a bake sale in Monkey Junction that raised thousands of dollars towards a reward for information leading to an arrest.
"So many people have baked and brought baked good outs," said Julie Covey, Vann's mother. "So many people we don't know have brought goods out to sell. I think we are doing pretty good considering the weather."
Those who didn't know Vann said they were happy to help out.
"I feel this is a real big heartbreak for this family and for all those who knew him," said Elaine Senten who attended the bake sale. "I'm proud to say he was a good person. He worked with the elderly and he deserves our support."
The money raised from the bake sale will be used as a reward to anyone who has information that will lead to an arrest and conviction in the murder case.
