UNCW fraternity members sleep in boxes for a good cause

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Some fraternity members at UNCW are giving up the comfort of their own bed for a good cause.

Members of Alpha Tau Omega are collecting food and clothes for the Salvation Army, and they're going all the way to do it.

All 32 members of the fraternity are sleeping outside in boxes until Friday.

They say the food and clothing drive is more effective if they lead by example, even if it means some uncomfortable nights.

"Well, with the way weather has been in Wilmington lately, it's pretty warm during the day, but at night that temperature drops, so it was pretty rough" said ATO President Kevin Clamser.  "It was really cold last night."

Students said they will also be going to dorm rooms to collect foods and clothes.

If you would like to donate the fraternity is camped out in front of Wagoner Hall on UNCW's campus.
