WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Parks and Recreation Department plans to discuss how to better handle events like Wing Fling in the future.
This meeting comes after several reports of fights and traffic and parking issues during and after Saturday's Wing Fling event.
New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies and Wilmington Police officers were called out to the park to help security handle the crowd.
The 911 center received more than 30 calls regarding the altercations, and the sheriff's office said two people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Though no charges were filed for the fights, 74 citations were written for improperly parked vehicles in the areas around Hugh MacRae Park.
The Parks and Rec Advisory Board will meet next week to talk about how to make events at county parks safer for the public.
