WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Outdoor enthusiasts in the Wilmington area gathered in downtown Wilmington for the first Cape Fear Wildlife Expo.

Nearly 8,000 people attended and more than 100 vendors were on hand at the Schwartz Center and Coastline Convention Center in Wilmington.

There was something for everyone at the event including a safari trailer, an archery range for kids, and a chance to check out the latest hunting equipment.

Organizers are glad to see that the expo finally happened after several attempts to host the show.

"Everyone has said Wilmington has needed this for a long time," said WC Lanier.  "There are some good shows in Charleston and Raleigh. But Wilmington needed one. And so far so good."

Orginizers say they are hoping to host the expo at the new convention center next year, so that more people of all ages can attend.
