Wilmington salon raises money for accident victim

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Employees at Vida Salon and Spa are teaming up to help an accident victim.

In July 2008, David Rowell broke his neck and legs in a serious car accident.  He has seven children and the medical bills are piling up, making it difficult to survive in this economy.

Amy Akers, who works at the salon, saw the car accident and helped pull Rowell out of his burning vehicle.

Now, she and her fellow stylists are asking area businesses for help with a raffle and silent auction to benefit Rowell's family.

"Sometimes we need to take our minds off of ourselves and think about others around us, and it's just a good thing to do so we're excited about helping," said salon owner Tonya So.

The fundraiser will take place Tuesday, March 31 from 6-8 PM at Vida Salon and Spa in downtown Wilmington.

If you'd like to get involved, contact Tonya or Amy at the salon, (910)254-7890.
